Vein Treatments

Veins are blood vessels that return blood to the heart from the body. To counter the effects of gravity, the veins contain one-way valves which open to allow blood to flow to the heart and close to prevent the backflow of blood to the body. When the valves do not function properly or if the vein is damaged and prevents the valves from closing, blood can begin to collect in the vein and cause a variety of vein complications.

Types of Veins we Treat

There are two types of veins that we treat – spider veins and varicose veins. Vein treatment options vary from simple injections used to treat spider veins to the stripping and removal of large varicose veins.

Potential patients will need to schedule a consultation to determine what type of vein treatment is appropriate. A sonogram may be required.

Veins treated for cosmetic reasons are not covered by health insurance. Treatment for large, painful varicose veins may be covered by health insurance.
