Botox
Botox is a simple, non-surgical procedure that smooths the deep, persistent lines and wrinkles that develop as we age.
The administration of Botox involves a few tiny injections directly into the muscle. Botox relaxes the contraction of the muscle by blocking nerve impulses resulting in the relaxing and softening of wrinkles since the muscle can no longer contract. Results from these injections are temporary. Additional treatments may be necessary to achieve desired results.
No anesthetic is required. Discomfort is minimal and usually last for a short time. An ice pack can be used on the treated area if desired. The entire procedure typically takes about 10 minutes. There is no downtime.
Effects of Botox appear within a few days and generally last from four to six months. Patients who choose to get additional treatments when wrinkles reappear typically will have less severe wrinkles each time they return as the muscles are trained to relax.
Botox does not treat static lines (lines visible when muscle is not contracted) instead patient should be treated with a dermal filler.
