Tummy Tuck

Tummy tuck surgery, also known as abdominalplasty, flattens the abdomen by removing excess fat and skin, and in most cases restores weakened or separated muscles.

Tummy tuck surgery is suitable for both men and women who have lost a significant amount of weight and developed loose skin around the abdomen or for women who have muscles and skin stretched by pregnancy.

Types of Tummy Tucks

  • Traditional tummy tuck - An incision is made across the lower part of the abdomen from hip bone to hip bone, just above the pubic area. A second incision is made around the belly button to free it from the abdominal tissue. Excess skin is removed and the loose muscles are tightened.
  • Extended tummy tuck – Similar to a traditional tummy tuck but the incision extends to the back of the patients hips.
  • Mini tummy tuck – Ideal when correction is isolated to the area below the navel. A short incision is made above the pubic bone.

Recovery

Most patients will be "out of commission" for 1-2 weeks. Patients should gradually ease back into regular activities. Exercise and strenuous activity should be limited for at least 4-6 weeks.

Body Lift

The body lift is a surgical procedure that improves the shape and tone of the underlying tissue that support fat and skin. Excess sagging fat and skin are removed to treat conditions caused in part by poor tissue elasticity. In addition, the procedure(s) can improve a dimpled, irregular skin surface, commonly known as cellulite. A body lift may include these areas:

  • Abdominal area, locally or extend around the sides and into the lower back area
  • Buttocks, that may be low, flat, or shaped unevenly
  • Groin that may sag into inner thigh
  • Thigh, including the inner, outer, posterior thighs, or circumferentially

Patients who benefit from lower body lift surgery have:

  • Excess skin after bariatric surgery or massive weight loss
  • Excess skin after medical weight loss

Recovery

Patients should rest for 1-2 weeks following body lift surgery and should gradually ease back into regular activities. Exercise and strenuous activity should be limited for at least 4-6 weeks.

Arm/Thigh Lift

An arm lift, or brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure that reshapes and corrects sagging of the underside of the upper arm.

A thigh lift is a surgical procedure that corrects sagging and tightens skin in the inner or outer thigh.

Arm/Thigh Lifts are performed to:

  • Reduce excess sagging skin
  • Tighten and smooth the shape of the upper arm or thighs
  • Reduce localized pockets of fat

Recovery

Most patients will begin to resume normal activities with a few days. Light exercise can gradually be resumed after about a week. Strenuous exercise should be avoided for a few weeks.
