Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation or enlargement is an elective surgical procedure done to increase the size and/or shape of small underdeveloped breasts. Breast augmentation is also used to restore and enhance breast volume after breast feeding or weight loss. In addition, breast surgery can be used for reconstructive purposes or to balance asymmetrical breasts.
Saline & Silicone Breast Implants
Breast augmentation surgery involves the placing of silicone or saline implants behind the breast tissue either over or under the muscle. The surgery is done under local anesthetic with IV sedation and typically takes 1-2 hours. No general anesthetic will be used. Patients are discharged the same day as the surgery will require 3-4 follow up visits.
During the initial consultation, our medical staff will request a complete medical history and perform a brief medical examination to determine if the patient is a good candidate for the surgery.
Our medical staff will assist the patient in selecting the volume of the implant, the projection of the implant, the texture of the implant, the placement of the implant, the fill of the implant, and the location of the incision based on the patient’s body frame, body mass, existing breast tissue, and personal preferences.
In some cases, the surgeon may recommend that the patient have a breast lift along with the augmentation.
Breast augmentation procedures are rarely covered by health insurance.
